Setting up your website template:

Template Style:
HTML5 - Paypal Type 2 Forms

Step 1:
CHOOSE HOME PAGE TO USE: | More details
This template includes 2 homepage options:
  • To use the default homepage, move the "No-Animation-Home-sample.htm" into the "extras" folder.
  • To use the no animation homepage, move the "index.html" into the "extras" folder. Rename the "No-Animation-Home-sample.htm" to "index.html".
Step 2:
EDIT HEADER:
Edit the "logo.jpg" in the picts folder with your logo image. The header background HEX color can be found in the "coolstyle.css" file. The default font used in the sample is 67 point "AvanteGarde Bk BT".

Step 3:
EDIT COPYRIGHT: | More details
Open the "footer-copyright.js" file in Notepad or any text editor and edit "Yourcompany.com" with your website name or domain name. This will update the footer on all pages.

Step 4:
EDIT CONTACT INFO: | More details
Open the "contact.js" in Notepad or any text editor and change the company name, address, phone and fax numbers and email address (edit the email in 2 places). This will update the contact info on the "contact" page. This is done in a .js file so search engines will not read your email and you should get less spam.

Step 5:
EDIT HEADER PHONE NUMBER:
Open the "menu-top.js" in any text editor and edit the "var phonetext" text "Phone: 847.555.5555". There is a yes/no option to turn this text off.

Step 6:
EDIT THE CONTACT AND QUOTES FORM:

Click for current info on setting up the template forms.

Click for info on adding more fields to the forms.

Click for changing form sizes or colors.

If you want to use only email on the contact page you can remove the contact form from the "contact.htm" between the comment tags.

Because of the complexity of setting up the quote form, there are notes in the "quotes.htm" to help you cut and paste to add new form fields. The form will work with most contact form scripts however you will need help files or a sample form from the script you intend to use. Most form elements work the same way from script to script, however the hidden values usually vary. You may want to consider editing the entire page in Notepad instead of a wysiwyg editor.

Step 7:
REPLACE THE GALLERY PICTURES: | More details
The best way to setup the pictures on the gallery pages is not to actually edit the HTML pages and change the pictures on each individual page. The fastest way is to simply replace the .jpg pictures in the "gallery" folder with your own by overwriting the files that are there now and using the same generic names.

In the "gallery" folder, replace the 8 "Fgallery" pictures with full size photos. Replace the 8 "gallery" pictures with your thumbnails. The thumbnails are now 50 x 50 pixels. The full sized images are 250 x 400 pixels. You can make them any size that you prefer, however, it is strongly recommended that you make the "Fgallery" images exactly 200 pixels wide so the gallery pages better match the other template pages.

GALLERY PAGE OPTIONS: | More details
There are some yes/no options near the top of the "pop-closeup.js" for right click protection that you can change.

Step 8:
SETUP THE SITE SEARCH:
Open the "search.js" and edit "allwebcodesign.com" with your website domain. To turn off the site search, open the "search.js" and edit the show search to "no".

If you require a more custom search with no ads, you can use the "OPTIONAL-Burgdorf-search.js" in your "extras" folder. Click here for help setting up the Burgdorf search.

To use a Google only search, move the "search.js" into your "extras" folder. Move the "OPTIONAL-GOOGLE-search.js" into the main template folder and rename that to "search.js".

Step 9:
EDIT TWITTER, FACEBOOK, LINKEDIN, GOOGLE+ LINKS: | More details
The footer is showing a group of social icons you will want to edit the links for. Open the "social_links.js" in a plain text editor. Edit the 4 links with your social network links. To turn off any of the social links edit the "var" for each link in this file from "yes" to "no".

Step 10:
REPLACE HOMEPAGE SLIDESHOW IMAGES (optional): | More details
The homepage (index.html) includes a slideshow application called the "jQuery Cycle Plugin". In the "JQuery" folder replace 6 images, "imageJQ-1.jpg" through "imageJQ-6.jpg". Make your images 250 x 400 pixels. This will update the homepage animation. Click the link above for details and options. Cycle set #1 is used on the homepage.

The location of the "Next & Prev arrows" can be edited in the "coolstyle.css".

Step 11:
SETUP DOWNLOADS PAGE:
Edit the links in the "downloads.htm" with your filename links. The download links are for files in the "downloads" folder. The page is setup now for 6 different file types, PDF, mp3, mp3 rintone, mp4, zip and jpg. You can setup the page to use a single or any number of file types. 6 file type icons are included in the "picts" folder. Edit the "downloads.htm" to edit the links and icons to use and to include information about each download.

Step 12:
EDIT PAGES: | Software choices | Notepad editing | Editing tips
Edit the text on all HTML pages with your website information. You can use a text editor like Notepad, Exp Web, Frontpage, Dreamweaver or any wysiwyg editor. Take care not to delete any of the HTML tags that surround the text. You will find notes inside each HTML page so you will know what areas to edit. NOTES: Set your HTML software options to "Preserve Existing HTML". When editing you will not see the footer and header in some software because they are .js include files.

Step 13:
EDIT PAGE TITLES, DESCRIPTIONS AND KEYWORDS: | More details
Open each of the pages and change the page titles (at the very top of the page) and also the description and the keywords with your product or service keywords. You can edit one page and copy and paste this area to the other pages. Be careful to only change what's inside the " " so you don't disturb the html code. Titles are important so your site will get a good listing at Google, Yahoo, Bing and other search engines.

Step 14:
UPLOAD: | More details
Upload the pages on to your hosting company server using ftp software or Windows Explorer or your control panel. Be sure to upload the "picts" and "JQuery" and "gallery" and "downloads" folders and all files in these folders.

Options:

SEARCH OPTIONS: | More details
If you want to setup your website with a site search instead of a Google search Click here for details.

CHANGING LINKS / ADDING TO THE MENU: | More details
You can change the names of the links like "about" or "clients" to other names by editing any one of the 3 "menu.js" files in this template. These menus are named: menu.js, menu-top.js and menu-footer.js.

When editing menu names do not change the name with the ".htm" after it unless you are changing the page file name. Whatever you edit in any menu .js file will update every page on the website. Keep menu names short if possible. For longer page names you can add them to the template "site_map.htm". Add more pages by copying one link in the "menu.js" and pasting it right below the next. Be sure to back up your files before editing them.

ADDING PAGES: | More details
You can add pages to your website by copying and pasting any one of the pages and renaming it to whatever you need. You can then add links from the other pages or on the menu.

FONTS: | More details
You can change your font colors and sizes by editing the "coolstyle.css" with a text editor. Change the "table, div" px size to change the copy on all pages. Edit the "title" or "subtitle" px size to change all the title sizes. Click above for more help.

CHANGING THE GRAPHICS/PICTURES: | More details
You can replace each HTML page picture with your own .jpg image. These pictures are now 250 x 400 pixels. You can use any size picture you want but it is recommended that you keep these images 200 pixels wide. Each HTML page includes it's own image. These are named according to the page they are on. You will find all pictures in the "picts" folder.

SITE MAP PAGE:
The "site_map.htm" is linked from the index.html. It is best not to remove this link so search engines can find your site map and properly list all your pages when users search at major search engines.

PAGE HEIGHTS & WIDTHS:
So all your pages will maintain a standard height and width a ".pageheight" class is included in the .css file. Edit this class in Notepad and you can change the height to any height you need. For page widths, edit the ".pagewrapper" and ".content-width" classes.

TO REMOVE THE PAYPAL CART PAGES:
Move the "FORMgallery1.htm", "FORMgallery2.htm" and "thanks-payment.htm" pages into your template "extras" folder. Remove the links to these pages in the "gallery1.htm" and "gallery2.htm".
